The Denver Broncos pulled off a remarkable 28-24 comeback victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9. Trailing 24-13 in the fourth quarter, Denver rallied behind Bo Nix, who delivered two crucial touchdown passes.

Nix finished with 222 passing yards and two touchdowns. Rookie Jonah Coleman scored the go-ahead touchdown with less than two minutes remaining. However, Denver's defense had the final say, with Malcolm Roach sacking Patrick Mahomes on the final play to seal the victory.

It was an emotional result for the Broncos, who moved into first place in the AFC West. Head coach Sean Payton was understandably delighted with his team's resilience.

However, when discussing the keys to Denver's victory, Payton didn't just praise his players. He also reserved special recognition for the thousands of supporters inside Empower Field at Mile High.

With Kansas City facing fourth-and-goal from Denver's one-yard line, right tackle Jaylon Moore was penalised for a false start. The five-yard penalty pushed the Chiefs back to the six, significantly complicating their options. Mahomes was subsequently sacked, ending the game.

Payton explained how the crowd's noise contributed to that crucial penalty.

"I would say this, if you could tangibly point to a crowd win, if you could tangibly point and say the false start, I mean, that's just from a play caller standpoint, 1 to the 6, and you're in another zip code with plays. That was huge."

The Broncos faithful had made their presence felt when their team needed them most.

Nix also praised the team's response under pressure, highlighting the importance of sticking together during difficult moments.

Denver has now won four consecutive games and taken control of the AFC West. For Payton, this victory demonstrated that the Broncos' home-field advantage extends well beyond their players.
