The Denver Broncos could be making life harder for themselves by overthinking their offensive approach. Recent comments from their quarterback have raised questions about the team's decision-making.
On ESPN's Unsportsmanlike, former NFL player Chris Canty discussed Bo Nix's recent media session. He interpreted the quarterback's comments as an attempt to manage the pressure of making the right decision on every play:
“It sounds like a player that is trying to take the pressure off and not being perfect in every single play. It sounds like as Bo Nix is talking to the media, he's talking to himself. He's doing a therapy session with his media session.”
He then connected Nix's self-reflection to what he sees as a broader problem with Denver's offensive approach:
“He's trying to avoid paralysis by analysis, and I think that's the current state of the Denver Broncos offense. I think they're overcooking a lot of what they're trying to do.”
Canty's criticism extends beyond Nix's decisions. He believes Denver's offense has become unnecessarily complicated.
Broncos QB emphasizes smarter decision-making
Bo Nix recently explained that he wants to stay aggressive without putting his team in difficult situations through turnovers. He stressed balancing aggression with protecting the football.
Rather than force throws, Nix wants to take what the play offers, check the ball down, run, or throw it away. He wants to focus on each play instead of chasing spectacular results or worrying about mistakes.
