NFL Legend Weighs in on Bo Nix and Broncos' Clutch Performances; Dismisses "Luck" Narrative

Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos have developed a reputation for delivering when it matters most. However, their latest performances have made that reputation increasingly difficult to dismiss.

Nix endured a frustrating start to the season, struggling with consistency and failing to produce consistently through the opening quarters. Yet, Denver's fortunes have improved, with the quarterback finding ways to deliver when games are on the line.

The Broncos have won four consecutive games, including dramatic victories over the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks. Against Kansas City, Nix helped overturn an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit, completing two touchdown drives to secure a 28-24 victory.

This ability to respond under pressure is nothing new for Nix. He has repeatedly delivered game-winning drives throughout his young career. Nevertheless, Denver's repeated late-game heroics have sometimes been dismissed as luck rather than a reflection of the team's mentality.

NFL legend J.J. Watt, however, is no longer buying that explanation. Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Watt praised Denver's consistency and highlighted Nix's composure under pressure.

“We're at the point where you can't say that it's luck because of how often the Broncos do it..It's pretty incredible to watch these 4th-quarter comebacks..Bo Nix plays free and loose when his back is against the wall.”

Watt's assessment highlights how Nix appears increasingly comfortable in high-pressure situations. The quarterback now owns 15 career fourth-quarter or overtime game-winning drives, an NFL record for a player's first three seasons.

Nix reached the milestone following Denver's comeback against Kansas City. He surpassed Dak Prescott's previous record of 14 such drives, with nine regular-season games still remaining.

The achievement further underlines why Denver's late-game success deserves recognition beyond simply getting lucky.
