NFL Insider Reveals Reason Behind Bo Nix's Struggles As Broncos QB Faces Heavy Criticism

Bo Nix is enduring a difficult season under center for the Denver Broncos, and the criticism continues to grow. His struggles reached another low against the Seattle Seahawks, completing 17 of 27 passes for just 107 yards without a touchdown. Despite Denver escaping with a 17-14 overtime victory, questions remain about why its quarterback has regressed.

Nix helped lead Denver to the AFC Championship Game last season, making his current struggles particularly concerning. While some critics have questioned his decision-making, NFL insider and FOX Sports analyst Jay Glazer believes there's another explanation.

Speaking on FOX NFL Sunday, Glazer revealed that Denver changed its offensive terminology when Davis Webb became offensive coordinator. However, when Sean Payton reclaimed play-calling duties, he reverted to his own terminology, effectively forcing Nix to adjust once again.

"When Davis Webb took over, he completely changed the terminology on the offensive side of the ball for Bo Nix. Now that Sean Payton's taking it back over, it's like going back to a whole different language that you used to know."

Glazer believes those changes have contributed to Nix's struggles, leaving him trying to process different terminology while executing the offense. It doesn't excuse every mistake, but it offers a potential explanation for his lack of rhythm. Payton remains confident Nix can rediscover his previous form.

Sean McDermott Had a Similar Theory About the Broncos QB's Struggles

Former Bills head coach Sean McDermott previously suggested that Nix's indecisiveness could stem from switching between two play-callers. Like Glazer, McDermott pointed toward the changes surrounding Nix rather than dismissing his ability.

McDermott stressed that Nix still possesses the necessary skills, suggesting his struggles might not reflect his true potential.

Denver now needs to restore consistency and help Nix settle into the offense. With the Broncos sitting at 4-2, getting their quarterback back on track could determine how far they go this season.
