Jeremy Crawshaw’s Exemption Gives Broncos Extra Roster Flexibility

The Australia-born punter Jeremy Crawshaw has received an NFL grant exemption for the Denver Broncos, which gives them roster flexibility.

According to USA Today’s Broncos Wire, the Broncos have an extra offseason roster spot, as Crawshaw has received an international roster exemption from the NFL.

“The NFL granted an international designation for Australian punter Jeremy Crawshaw on Monday, giving him an exemption from the club's 90-man offseason roster,” Jon Heath wrote. He further added, “Crawshaw won't count against the team's active roster during the offseason.”

The second-team All-SEC athlete recorded 190 punts and 8,830 total yards in college. He was selected by the Denver Broncos with the 216th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, which made him the sole punter selected in the draft.

Jeremy Crawshaw took this opportunity to prove his strong potential. He recorded 75 punts for 3,573 yards during the regular season. In the postseason, he posted 10 punts for 497 yards.

A pivotal moment that led the Broncos to a win in the AFC Divisional Round against the Buffalo Bills came from Crawshaw, who landed a 55-yard coffin-corner punt. It also earned him a 2025 Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team selection.

According to Heath, Crawshaw won’t count against the offseason roster with the exemption. However, he will count against the 53-man roster during the regular season.

With such an advantage, the Broncos could use this extra spot to sign and evaluate 14 undrafted free agents. It would also allow them to cut only three instead of four players before minicamp on their 90-man offseason roster.

In fact, according to Sports Illustrated, 14 of the UDFAs are reportedly set to sign with the Broncos.

14 UDFAs Set To Sign With The Denver Broncos

According to Sports Illustrated, the Denver Broncos have reportedly signed 14 UDFAs who have a history of successful UDFA stories, with at least one making the 53-man roster in 21 of the past 22 years.

The list includes cornerbacks, linebackers, offensive linemen, wide receivers, edge rushers, and a long snapper.

To bolster their defense, the team has added depth at cornerback with Ahmari Harvey, Will Wright, and Brent Austin, along with linebackers Dasan McCullough and Taurean York.

The offensive line sees additions in Tyler Miller and Gavin Ortega. Meanwhile, Luke Basso has filled the role of the long snapper.

They also signed five wide receivers, namely WR Dane Key from Nebraska, WR Joseph Manjack IV from TCU, WR Kolbie Katsis from Northern Arizona, WR Cam Ross from Virginia, and WR Sean Brown from Charlotte.
