Former Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills center Mitch Morse just gave a controversial opinion about his two former teammates. The retired veteran claimed that Josh Allen will hoist a Lombardi Trophy before Patrick Mahomes wins his next one.
Fans are completely ripping into him for snubbing the three-time Super Bowl champ. The drama exploded when the official NFL Network account posted the clip on X on June 18.
"I feel like it's Josh Allen's time," Morse explicitly stated on air when asked who is he backing to win the Super Bowl the earliest.
Looking at where both these quarterbacks stand right now, the career gap is big. Mahomes is sitting on three Super Bowl rings and two regular-season MVPs to go with his three Super Bowl MVPs.
Meanwhile, Allen has put up solid individual numbers and even snagged the 2024 regular-season NFL MVP award, but he has never reached a single Super Bowl.
"Who can refute that Patrick Mahomes is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time?" Morse did try to play nice on the broadcast, openly asking the panel.
However, he still doubled down on his dream-driven prediction, explaining that he genuinely believes a permanent AFC hierarchy shift is finally coming to Buffalo.
Mitch Morse spent 4 years playing with the Kansas outfit before making a move to the Bills.
NFL Fans Bring the Receipts After Mitch Morse Snubs Patrick Mahomes
Under the NFL Network's post was a barrage of comments by the Chiefs' fans expressing their discontent to seeing their star QB getting snubbed.
"Breaking news…. 'Guy that played for Bills and constantly lost to Chiefs in playoffs thinks the Bills will win," a fan posted reacting to the clip.
Morse left the Chiefs before the start of their Super Bowl dominance, which saw them win 3 championships in 5 seasons. He then spent five seasons with the Bills, regularly experiencing Mahomes eliminate Buffalo first-hand in the postseason.
"Oh come on…last year was his year, and he blew it.. Go Pat Mahomes!! Go Chiefs ❤️", another fan chimed in.
The door was wide open for Allen during the 2025 season because Kansas City's 10-season consecutive playoff streak ended. And Mahomes suffered a season-ending torn ACL in December.
That was supposed to be Allen's time to shine, but he could not pull his team across the finish line, succumbing in the Divisional round.
"It’s Groundhog Day lol. Wait until Josh has to face Denver again in the playoffs 🥴", a fan wrote, pointing directly to that collapse.
In the 2025 Divisional Round on January 17, 2026, Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos defeated the Buffalo Bills, securing a 33-30 overtime victory. This extended Allen's painful cycle of falling short of the AFC Championship Game.
"As a Chiefs fan I’ve heard this for the last 4-5 years lol… buddy just can’t get it done🤣 it’s as simple as that," one fan added.
Chiefs fans are totally tired of this narrative because sports media have run this exact storyline for nearly half a decade. Every single year, analysts predict that Allen will finally secure a Lombardi trophy, yet the prediction never gets fulfilled.
"The sports media really needs to quit glazing Josh Allen and acting like he’s won anything other than a pity MVP. They won’t even make a AFC championship game this season let alone a Super Bowl appearance," another fan argued. "And the chiefs will end their season again."
Patrick Mahomes has an impeccable record of 17-4 in the playoffs compared to Allen's 8-7. Allen has a 0-4 record in the playoffs against Patrick Mahomes. Two of these losses came in the AFC Championship game.
Who do you think will hoist the Lombardi trophy before the other? Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes? Let us know in the comments.
