Terry Bradshaw is not planning to walk away from his legendary TV career anytime soon.
During a mid-June 2026 podcast appearance, the 77-year-old Hall of Famer dropped a statement regarding his future in television.
“Retirement is not something that I mean, I may not be with Fox. That would be their call, not mine," Terry Bradshaw stated on the Sports Business Radio podcast. "But I would still be speaking, but if not doing that, I'll still work the bourbon trail.”
Bradshaw explained his motivation by referencing a philosophy from evangelist Billy Graham. He believed that stopping work causes a rapid decline in cognitive function.
The four-time Super Bowl-winning former quarterback with the Pittsburgh Steelers said that he and his wife, Tammy, went crazy after staying at home for two weeks.
He emphasized that he wants to remain fully active until the end during an interview on the Sports Business Radio podcast with host Brian Berger.
This conversation follows public scrutiny over multiple on-air mistakes on Fox NFL Sunday, as per Sam Neumann from Awful Announcing.
These blunders include mixing up the NFC Championship script, forgetting Jordan Love and Micah Parsons as teammates, and misstating Tua Tagovailoa's cold-weather stats.
He also has had moments where he's talking about something else entirely, leaving his colleagues confused.
Despite these brief studio slip-ups, Bradshaw remains incredibly sharp in unscripted environments.
For example, during a 2.5-hour appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast in early June 2026, Terry Bradshaw ran circles around Rogan during a debate over medical treatments.
Shifting Timelines and a Lasting Fox Sports Legacy
After an incredible 14-year career playing football, Terry Bradshaw got into sports broadcasting.
In his career, he had a 3-3 record against the Denver Broncos, with him throwing for 1,014 yards and scoring 7 touchdowns.
Looking back, Bradshaw has teased retirement for over 15 years. Back in 2008, he announced plans to retire by 2011. Later, in 2023, he joked about wanting to pass away on-air for a ratings boost.
At Super Bowl LIX in February 2025, he estimated having four years left.
Interestingly, this is simultaneous with Fox's deal with the NFL, which can be terminated by the league following the 2029 season, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
So for the next few seasons, Fox will try to make strides in the positive direction so that the NFL stays in business with them. For network broadcasters, live sports rights are the most valuable assets.
Terry Bradshaw's presence with Fox is inseparable.
Bradshaw joined Fox NFL Sunday back at its launch in 1994 and has been a part of it ever since.
Following co-host Jimmy Johnson's retirement in 2025, Bradshaw and Howie Long are the last original cast members left. His colleagues have publicly shown support for Bradshaw to continue as long as he wants.
“It’s never gonna happen. They’re going to be carrying him out in a hearse," main host Curt Menefee completely shut down exit rumors to the Daily Mail in late 2025. "He is not leaving the show.”
In the end, it is the FOX network leadership that holds the power, but Terry Bradshaw refuses to volunteer.
