Super Bowl champion Ryan Harris is leaving his radio gig. The former Denver Broncos and Notre Dame player is stepping down after spending the last eight years talking about Notre Dame football games on air.

He shared on social media that he will be spending his time pursuing new NFL and television broadcasting roles while also completing his final semester of law school at the University of Colorado.

“I will be devoting the next season of my life to pursuing NFL and television opportunities, and completing my final semester of law school," Harris wrote. "I move on with a full heart, grateful for all the opportunities that Notre Dame has provided me and the people who made me better.”

Harris spent eight seasons calling Notre Dame Fighting Irish football games from 2018 through 2025 as the team’s radio color analyst. He officially stepped away from the role in May 2026.

Given how quickly the football season is approaching, reporter Andrew Holleran of The Spun believes Harris might already have a new high-profile NFL media job lined up.

This move wouldn't be a surprise, as he has already built up a strong broadcasting resume.

While balancing his law school classes, Harris has also worked as a color commentator for Westwood One NFL radio and covered preseason games for the Denver Broncos on Altitude Sports.

This next step marks another major milestone in Harris's football journey, which spans over two decades. After a stellar college career protecting quarterbacks at Notre Dame, he spent nearly a decade playing offensive tackle in the NFL.

During his time in the field, he played for various teams, including the Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Denver Broncos.

While with the Broncos for five years, he also won Super Bowl 50 in 2015 during his third playing stint with Denver.

How Did Ryan Harris Become A Broadcaster?

Ryan Harris retired from the NFL on March 3, 2017. He had to stop playing football because of many painful injuries.

During his final season in 2016 with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he suffered a terrible shin injury that sent him to the hospital and ended his season early.

Luckily, Harris was already getting ready for his next step.

“My ultimate goal is to be calling (NFL) games on television (as an analyst),” he told the Denver Gazette in October 2025.

And now, he is ready to take his ultimate leap towards a bigger project.
