Jaylen Waddle finally showed Broncos fans what he can bring to Denver's offense. After a quiet Week 1 against the Chiefs, Waddle exploded against the Jaguars with eight receptions for 138 yards. He did not score, but his explosiveness gave the Broncos a completely different offensive dimension.

That performance caught the attention of former Broncos receiver Bennie Fowler. Speaking on DNVR Broncos X's and O's, Fowler explained why Waddle looks different from other explosive players he has seen in Denver.

Fowler compared Waddle's versatility to NBA superstar Kevin Durant. He highlighted how the receiver can make plays against different coverages and from various areas of the field.

“I have not seen an explosive player like this on offense... when you have that type of playmaking ability from the receiver position, it opens things up, and I equate it to a Kevin Durant in basketball. It doesn't matter if it's man or zone, he can score. And Jaylen Waddle, to me, is the same way.”

That comparison captures what made Waddle so dangerous against Jacksonville. He caught screens, quick outs, and deeper routes, forcing the Jaguars to account for his speed throughout the game. After his disappointing Week 1 showing, Waddle's response provided an encouraging sign for Denver.

The Broncos acquired Waddle to create more explosive opportunities, and his Week 2 performance showed why. Eight receptions and 138 yards gave Bo Nix a reliable weapon capable of creating problems from anywhere on the field.

That production could also benefit Denver's other offensive weapons. Defenses cannot focus entirely on one player when Waddle's speed demands attention on every snap.

The bigger challenge now is consistency. Waddle has shown what he can do, but Denver needs performances like this regularly. If he maintains that level, the Broncos could finally unlock the offensive explosiveness they expected when they brought him in.
