Two tight ends who entered the league as undrafted free agents in recent years and previously signed with the Denver Broncos have now been released by the Los Angeles Chargers and the Cleveland Browns.
“Last week, the Los Angeles Chargers released international tight end Thomas Yassmin,” Jon Heath wrote for the Broncos Wire on May 22.
Yassmin, an Australian tight end, was let go as the Chargers made room for another international player, Laekin Vakalahi from New Zealand.
He originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Broncos in 2024. Yassmin remained with the team through last season before being waived. He later signed with the Chargers and spent the year on their practice squad.
Apart from Yassmin, another former Broncos tight end who has faced a similar situation is Caden Prieskorn.
“The Cleveland Browns waived Caden Prieskorn on Tuesday (he cleared waivers on Wednesday, making him a free agent),” Heath added.
Prieskorn entered the league as an undrafted free agent last year and initially signed with the Detroit Lions. However, he was waived within a month and later had brief stints with the Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and eventually the Browns in October 2025.
Like Yassmin, Prieskorn has spent his time on practice squads and has yet to make a 53-man roster. The Browns marked his fifth team in less than two years in the league.
That said, the Broncos are also preparing for their offseason program as they head into the 2026 season.
Denver Sets OTA Schedule While Quarterback Recovery Remains in Focus
Denver will begin its Organized Team Activities in two sessions, first from June 2 to June 4 and then from June 9 to June 11. This will be followed by their mandatory minicamp scheduled from June 16 to June 18.
Amid these preparations, the team’s starting quarterback is still recovering from an injury suffered last season. However, there is a growing expectation that he could participate in portions of the offseason program.
“Head coach Sean Payton said earlier this month that Nix could see the field at some point during the team’s June schedule, most likely during its mandatory minicamp. The third-year quarterback will be back by the start of training camp at the latest,” Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reported May 21.
Beyond Nix, the Broncos have two additional quarterback options on the roster. Jarrett Stidham is expected to continue as the primary backup, while Sam Ehlinger is projected to serve as the third-string quarterback.
