Compared to other teams, the Denver Broncos made fewer changes in their roster this offseason. But considering that the franchise already had a championship-caliber team in 2025, continuity may be exactly what the franchise needs.

Sports Illustrated writer Jared Koch revealed that Broncos starting right tackle Mike McGlinchey has high hopes for what Denver can accomplish this season, based on what the player had to say during the team’s OTAs.

“"I think we all have a really good understanding of what we do," McGlinchey said in June. "Obviously, there wasn’t a lot of roster turnover this year moving forward. Having the experience that we have in the building and playing together for as long as we all have is a good thing to keep building on and starting on a higher point than each year before." 

Among the major offseason moves that the Broncos executed, acquiring Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins and re-signing running back J.K. Dobbins, inside linebackers Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad, and tight end Adam Trautman. 

And per Koch’s July 19 SI report, McGlinchey believes that the team’s focus this season needs to be on improving and fine-tuning the existing lineup’s performance, rather than developing talent from scratch.

“"If you’re not improving, you are getting worse in this league and I think we took steps to improve from OTAs last year to training camp to the whole season. Then we played last season and the [17th] game was better than the last game and that’s the goal this year as well. We have to be better in training camp than we were in OTAs and so on and so forth,” the Broncos right tackle added.

The Broncos had a spectacular run last season, winning the AFC West and securing a 14-3 record.

They defeated the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round but lost to the New England Patriots after quarterback Bo Nix suffered a season-ending ankle fracture.

With Nix scheduled to be cleared before Denver’s mandatory training camp begins, and all five starting offensive linemen from last season returning this year, it seems the team’s mantra this time is to make things as seamless for Nix as possible.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton’s decision to promote Davis Webb to offensive coordinator and handing over playcalling duties seems to be yet another step towards achieving continuity in the team’s offense.

The Broncos offense is flourishing under new OC Davis Webb

According to a June 13 ESPN report, the Broncos OTAs saw Davis Webb stepping into his role as offensive coordinator and playcaller perfectly.

Webb echoed RT McGlinchey’s belief that finetuning skills and getting the team used to the new installations are Denver’s main concern.

"Right now, we're just teaching the installations, making sure we're getting the bad football out of our system now," Webb said. "Break the huddle efficiently, get to the ball fast and allow the QB to see the game." 

HC Payton further pointed out that the familiarity between the players contributed to their dynamic and fostered trust. And the same went for having Webb as a playcaller.

"It helps a lot, just his [Webb’s] experience with the system, with Bo, with the current players," Payton said. "He's got good energy, he's extremely sharp, we're better having him, we're in a better spot with his experience here than we would be if he was just coming in." 

Davis Webb joined the Broncos in 2023 as the team’s quarterback coach. He was promoted to passing-game coordinator in 2025 before being named offensive coordinator and primary playcaller in 2026.
