Broncos Set for Major Change as NFL Franchise Looks to Add New Uniform

Denver Broncos' official uniforms

Denver Broncos fans have a lot to look forward to, and it’s not just Bo Nix’s return or the matchup against the Chiefs. Nor is it limited to this season alone.

The NFL is launching a new series of “Rivalries” uniforms for all 32 teams, dedicated to the NFC and AFC for the 2025 to 2028 seasons.

Since the AFC West, which includes the Broncos, will be joining the rotation next year, fans can expect to see the team decked out in the new jersey in 2027.

According to Broncos Wire, the NFL issued an announcement that stated, “Following their reveal, these Rivalries uniforms will be included in their team’s uniform lineup for three years after introduction, in addition to existing alternate uniforms.”

These are not going to become their primary uniform, however. Inspired by local heritage, they will be worn during specific divisional matches.

"Each participating team will wear a unique Rivalries uniform with designs rooted extensively in local community insights during a single home game against a division rival," the NFL added.

The Broncos already have a dedicated collection of uniforms, paying homage to the franchise’s roots and to Denver.

Denver’s current uniform is part of the ‘Mile High Collection’, featuring nine uniform combinations in the team’s trademark colors.

The alternate “1977 Throwback” range pays tribute to the Broncos’ “Orange Crush” era and has retro lettering on the jersey.

Many fans want to see the team wearing these iconic jerseys for AFC West home matches. But that might not be the case next season once the “Rivalries” uniforms are launched.

What Is The Significance Of The “Rivalries” Collection?

The reason behind the NFL’s decision to launch new uniforms is quite multifaceted. New colors generate more hype for teams and matches, increase viewership, facilitate sponsorships, and empower the players as well.

But, in the end, it boils down to something quite simple: generating revenue. According to Broncos Wire, the NFL made the implication obvious through their statement regarding the significance of the new uniforms.

“Fans will be able to show their support by purchasing new jerseys, sideline apparel and fan gear, including T-shirts, hoodies, jackets and headwear,” the league said.

Fans love merchandise, and the league is utilizing that to create yet another business opportunity.

But the league has already faced some backlash for the exorbitant ticket prices for the Week 1 Broncos vs. Chiefs game. Will the community be willing to splurge even more on official NFL merchandise?

Let us know how you feel about the “Rivalries” uniforms in the comments.
