Most NFL teams have started evaluating potential roster moves following the opening of the June 1 trade window. The Denver Broncos are currently linked with a New Orleans Saints running back.
The Broncos are looking to strengthen the offense around Bo Nix as they prepare for the 2026 season.
As reported by Nicolaas Ackermann of PFSN on June 1, Denver has been linked with five-time Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara, who is currently in the final year of his contract with the Saints. Though any potential discussions remain in the early stages.
The Broncos have already added several offensive pieces around Nix this offseason. Adding Jaylen Waddle, retaining Courtland Sutton, and bringing in tight end Evan Engram has strengthened the Broncos' offensive options.
According to NFL insider Albert Breer, the Broncos might look to improve their squad further.
“I believe Alvin Kamara wants to finish his career in New Orleans, as he’s said publicly,” Breer noted. “Also, I believe there’s a team out in Denver that would be interested if that’s not in the cards."

The Broncos are currently facing uncertainty in their backfield, with both J.K. Dobbins and R.J. Harvey due to injuries. Dobbins held potential to be a Broncos threat. However, the running back went down with a Lisfranc foot injury in Week 10, which ended his 2025 season.
Harvey, too, sustained a rib injury on his 19th and final carry against the Green Bay Packers on Dec. 14.
That unit could strengthen if the Broncos pursue Kamara.
Kamara will bring valuable experience for the Broncos, as he prepares to enter his 10th NFL season.
A Look Into the Alvin Kamara Situation
The speculation around Kamara began after the Saints reworked his contract. The 30-year-old is gearing up for the season, but his position at the Saints remains in question after adding Travis Etienne Jr. in free agency.
“The team can save about $14 million after June 1 on the salary cap. He’s due about $11.5 million, including $3 million guaranteed. So something has to come to a head,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler gave a glimpse of Kamara's situation in New Orleans.
With teams days away from being able to utilize post-June-1 cap benefits via trades, Kamara can be a good addition for the Broncos as he will be reuniting with Payton. Their bonding goes back to when he was the Saints head coach.
Kamara spent the first five years of his career getting to know Payton’s schemes. That understanding might help the Broncos in the season.
