Broncos Legend Justin Simmons Goes Off on Chiefs Fans Over Referee Complaints

The Denver Broncos' 28-24 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs sparked plenty of controversy. However, former Broncos safety Justin Simmons has little sympathy for the complaints coming from Kansas City.

The game was decided by a dramatic sequence in the final seconds. With four seconds remaining, Patrick Mahomes appeared to find Rashee Rice for a game-winning touchdown from the Broncos' one-yard line.

However, officials had already blown the whistle, penalizing Chiefs right tackle Jaylon Moore for a false start. The five-yard penalty pushed Kansas City back to the six-yard line, where Denver's defense subsequently sacked Mahomes to seal the victory.

The decision immediately sparked outrage among Chiefs fans. Many took to social media to question the officials, arguing that Moore's movement did not warrant a penalty. Some even suggested that referees had consistently worked against Kansas City.

Simmons, however, had a rather different interpretation. Speaking on DNVR's The Last Line, the former Broncos star fired back at those complaints, making a bold allegation of his own.

"Y'all been cheating the whole time y'all had Patrick Mahomes! Refs been cheating!"

Simmons wasn't finished there. He later doubled down, insisting that Kansas City had simply committed a penalty and failed to capitalize on its final opportunity.

"It was a false start. Y'all lost, and y'all lost at the 1-yard line. Ha!"

His comments have added another layer to the rivalry following Denver's crucial victory. The Broncos now sit atop the AFC West, while Kansas City must regroup after consecutive defeats.

Travis Kelce Admitted the Chiefs Were Rightfully Penalized Against Broncos

Interestingly, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce also addressed the controversy on New Heights. Unlike some of the fan reactions, Kelce acknowledged that the penalty was justified.

He stressed that Kansas City still had another opportunity to score from the six-yard line. Ultimately, the Chiefs failed to execute when it mattered most.
