J.K. Dobbins is entering his second season with the Denver Broncos after an injury-shortened 2025 campaign. The running back led Denver with 772 rushing yards and four touchdowns, but his season ended after just 10 games because of a serious Lisfranc injury.

Now healthy and back in Denver on a new two-year contract, Dobbins has been preparing for another season. However, he chose not to feature during the Broncos' preseason games, and there is a very understandable reason for that decision.

“Do you know what happened to me in my second year?...very last preseason game, blew my whole entire knee out, so I haven't really been a fan of preseason games.”

Dobbins was referring to his time with the Baltimore Ravens. A serious knee injury in the final preseason game of his second season clearly left a lasting impression on him. Given his injury history, it is hardly surprising that he would rather avoid unnecessary risks before the games actually matter.

J.K. Dobbins Had an Injury Scare During Preseason

Ironically, Dobbins did experience another injury scare during Denver's preseason this year. The running back spent some time away from training after dealing with a concerning issue, raising questions about his availability.

Fortunately, the setback wasn't considered serious, and Dobbins was able to return to preparations. That was important news for the Broncos, considering how much they are relying on him this season.

After missing the latter part of last season, Dobbins has plenty to prove in 2026. He has already promised to stay healthy and play all 17 games.
