The Denver Broncos could be without running back R.J. Harvey for their Week 2 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Harvey is dealing with a hamstring injury and enters Sunday with a questionable designation. The Broncos’ official injury report lists the 25-year-old as a limited participant on Thursday and Friday after he did not practice on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, NFL insider Adam Schefter also reported on X/Twitter that Harvey was unlikely to play on Sunday against the Jaguars, adding further uncertainty to his status.
As a result, Denver could enter its home opener for the 2026 season without one of its running backs. The Broncos will now have to assess their options ahead of kickoff.
Broncos face potential backfield adjustment against Jacksonville
R.J. Harvey's potential absence could give Denver's other running backs a larger role against Jacksonville.
The coaching staff may also need to redistribute touches across the backfield. Still, the questionable designation leaves open the possibility that Harvey could suit up. His status should become clearer as Sunday’s kickoff approaches.
Either way, Denver has to account for the uncertainty in its final preparations. The Broncos can then make any necessary changes once they have a definitive update on their rookie running back.
