With Super Bowl dreams dashed by a heartbreaking ankle injury six months ago, Denver held its breath. As per a report by The Denver Post, QB Bo Nix’s trainer has revealed the truth about his comeback.
Despite Nix’s ankle injury, his offseason was far from sidelined. When asked by Luca Evans if Nix would adapt his playstyle to protect his leg, trainer Ben Neill shut down any lingering doubts.
“He trusts his body.” Luca Evans quoted Ben in his Denver Post report. “He trusts the work that he’s done. And I don’t see it affecting him really at all, to be honest with you.”

As per Neill’s interview with the Denver Post on July 25, he explained that the injury against the Buffalo Bills briefly limited Nix's full-speed dropbacks. Still, it didn't disrupt his primary goal, which has been to reach the Super Bowl this season.
Throughout their offseason training, Nix has been doing intense lifting, drilling, and throwing sessions in the summer heat. Throughout the practice sessions, Neill noticed zero signs of Nix favoring his left leg.
With training camp kicking off on Thursday for the veterans and new targets like Jaylen Waddle joining the offense, Nix is positioned to thrive.
After undergoing surgery for a fractured right ankle suffered in the January 2026 AFC playoffs, which was followed by a routine procedure in April to clean up bone spurs, Bo Nix has fully recovered and is expected to be a full participant when training camp opens.
Across 34 career regular-season games thus far, Nix has never missed a game and recorded 7,706 passing yards and 54 passing touchdowns while adding 786 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns.
After reporting with the Broncos' veterans on July 28, the quarterback has been a full participant from Day 1, avoiding the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list and receiving full clearance following his offseason ankle procedures.
Moving into the 2026 season, the franchise has staked its future on Nix’s shoulders. His trainer has suggested that Denver’s QB1 is fully ready to deliver.
Bo Nix emerges as the leader of the Denver Broncos
After years of searching for a reliable leader, the Denver Broncos finally found their star in quarterback Bo Nix.
Behind his stellar play, Denver won 24 regular-season games in his two years. Last year, they overtook the Kansas City Chiefs in the division for the first time in a decade and earned the AFC's top playoff seed.
Unfortunately, a severe ankle injury forced Nix to miss the AFC Championship Game. The team's defeat to the New England Patriots in his absence (with Jarrett Stidham leading) clearly demonstrated his value to Denver's ultimate Super Bowl ambitions.
Moving into the 2026 season, the responsibilities again fall on Nix’s shoulders. Luca Evans of The Denver Post highlighted this in his report.
“He’s very aware of the stakes, and the sacrifice, and the responsibility that comes with all the things they’re doing,” Neill told Luca Evans in the aforementioned Denver Post report. “And I would say not only is he aware of it, but he’s built for it. And he knows he is. He’s built to be a franchise quarterback, and he doesn’t take that lightly.”
Carrying these massive expectations while working through injury rehabilitation is a daunting task for any young passer. However, those around him remain confident.
With Nix’s powerful mindset, he is fully prepared to lead. Do you think the Broncos can reach a Super Bowl with Nix next year? Let us know in the comments!
