Bo Nix tipped for major milestone as expectations soar in Denver

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix threw for 3,775 yards as a rookie in 2024 and 3,931 yards in 2025. Going into year three, there is a clear expectation from the fan base, and it comes with a certain number attached.

Laurie Lattimore-Volkmann of Mile High Report asked Broncos Country to predict Nix's 2026 passing yards and reported the results of the popular opinion.

"In year three, Broncos Country predicts its young QB will break the 4,000-yard barrier, but perhaps just barely. A few of us are predicting a steeper rise this season with 4,500 yards or more," Lattimore-Volkmann wrote for Mile High Report, July 19, 2026.

Other quarterbacks with similar hype support this. Josh Allen passed for 2,074 yards in his rookie year, 3,089 in his sophomore year, and then an impressive 4,544 yards.

Mahomes himself reached the 4k milestone earlier, passing for 5,097 yards in his first full season (second year). Now with a brand new elite receiver in Jaylen Waddle, Nix could very well have a better receiving corps to work with to reach this milestone.

Lattimore-Volkmann also provided an alternative argument that shifted the expectations from what a successful 2026 season would look like.

"I always love an explosive passing game, but I do think a more prolific run game is important for the Broncos' offense this season, so I'm hoping the total passing yards from Nix by the end of the season is under 4,000 if that means the rushing yard totals are up," Lattimore-Volkmann added for Mile High Report, July 19, 2026.

The Denver team's average rushing yards have been around 1,900 over the last 5 seasons, which is not good enough. Contributing to that with some positivity are Nix's 430 and 356 rushing yards in 2024 and 2025.

Nix has to arrive at training camp in good physical condition for this offense even to have a chance of improving.

Broncos QB Bo Nix shares training update ahead of 2026

Nix had two ankle surgeries after the AFC Divisional win over the Buffalo Bills. However, on July 19, he posted an encouraging summer training video on Instagram.

"When you get back here, I feel like I'm really training, really getting ready. I feel like the season's right around the corner when it feels like this. I feel like I put in work. I feel like it was a successful day, where the receipts are getting better," Nix said in the video shared on Instagram on July 19, 2026.

As Nix continues his training, the Broncos have announced he will be ready by the veteran reporting date, July 28.

Fellow cornerback Pat Surtain II seems to have enough excitement for both of them and commented, "That Guy!!" on Nix's Instagram video.
