Bo Nix has no intention of letting his right ankle injury limit what makes him so threatening to opponents. Instead, the Broncos star is doubling down on his running game and won't hesitate to hit a new stride.

"Absolutely not. I'm going to roll, and I'm going to be as athletic as I can be," Bo Nix told the press after Saturday's practice (via Deadspin). "It's a strength of ours, and we have to use our strengths. For me, that's when I feel at my best, and that's when I feel free."

This commitment signals Nix's confidence in his recovery and his willingness to take calculated risks for the team.

The franchise quarterback had helped the Broncos win in a dramatic 33-30 overtime against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round on January 17, but not before fracturing his right ankle.

He underwent surgery soon after, and later had his bone spurs removed in April in a follow-up surgery. Given that timeline, Nix's bold approach this season comes as a surprise, but there's a more altruistic motive behind his resolution.

Nix further explained in the August 1 press conference that the decision was more about ensuring Denver has every advantage it can get on the field, and having a mobile quarterback is perhaps the most important asset for the team.

Across 34 regular-season games, Nix has passed for 7,760 yards and 54 touchdowns against just 23 interceptions. This blend of efficiency and playmaking will be critical if Denver hopes to emerge as a serious Super Bowl contender this year.

"It's one of his superpowers. It's hard to sack some quarterbacks—he's one of them," Payton shared in the same conference on Saturday.

True enough, Nix was sacked just 22 times last year over 612 passing attempts, the highest in the league. For context, other high-volume quarterbacks averaged 35-40 sacks.

This will certainly emerge as one of Denver's biggest edges if Nix can maintain his aggressive, high-production style. The Broncos star remains pretty confident about that.

"I feel great. I feel normal. Nothing's holding me back," Nix signalled his readiness.
