The Broncos looked dead in the water against the Rams, trailing 16-0 at halftime. Yet Denver somehow flipped the game after the break, producing a dramatic 30-26 comeback that went down to the final seconds. Bo Nix stood at the center of that turnaround, delivering when the Broncos needed him most.

Nix helped erase the deficit with two touchdown passes and two successful two-point conversions in the third quarter. Then, after the Rams briefly regained control, he led a 65-yard drive before scoring the go-ahead touchdown himself with less than a minute remaining.

Overall, Nix finished 17-of-34 for 186 yards, two passing touchdowns and one interception. He also added seven rushing yards and the decisive touchdown, but his impressive finish cannot completely hide his difficult opening.

Denver struggled badly during the first half, failing to score while Nix struggled to establish a rhythm. Still, the quarterback refused to view his performance negatively.

“I'm never gonna play perfect in a game, and may have a couple plays that I want back in. Maybe to you it doesn't look like the best, but maybe to me it's the best play in that situation, based off what the defense gave us.”

Nix believes the final numbers do not always explain what happens on every play. His ability to recover from that slow start ultimately gave Denver another memorable victory.

Bo Nix and the Broncos must work on their early game struggles

Sean Payton has already warned that Denver's slow starts could eventually cost the team in bigger games. The Rams matchup provided another example, with the Broncos needing a spectacular second-half response to escape.

Nix deserves credit for helping engineer that comeback, but Denver cannot keep making life this difficult. Stronger starts would give the Broncos more control and reduce the pressure on their quarterback.

For Nix, the next challenge is clear. The Broncos need the late-game heroics to remain, while eliminating the early struggles that made this comeback necessary.
