"Absolutely awful" - Broncos' offensive issues come under scrutiny after Week 4

The Denver Broncos and quarterback Bo Nix face tough questions about the team's offense after a 24–14 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 4.

Their ground game struggled to gain traction, while the passing attack faced problems against defensive pressure. Speaking on the Ross Tucker Podcast, NFL Films senior producer and longtime analyst Greg Cosell identified two significant problems with Denver's offense.

He highlighted the team's inconsistent running game and its "awful" struggles against pressure:

“They've got two pretty significant issues. Number one, they haven't been able to really establish any kind of consistent run game, and that's a big deal. The other thing is they have been absolutely awful against pressure. Absolutely awful.”

Cosell pointed to the 49ers' defensive approach as an example. He noted that defensive coordinator Raheem Morris had increased the frequency of pressure against Denver, with effective results:

“And, you know, we saw that last week. The Niners really upped—Raheem Morris really upped his pressure frequency against the Broncos, and it was effective.”

His brutal assessment leaves Denver with clear priorities: establish a reliable ground game and find ways to handle defensive pressure more effectively.

Denver looks to fix offensive problems ahead of Week 5

Denver must address these weaknesses before its next game.

Quarterback Bo Nix completed 25 of 42 passes for 214 yards and one touchdown against San Francisco. The Broncos also need greater consistency on the ground.

A more effective running game could help Denver avoid predictable passing situations and give Nix better opportunities to operate against opposing defenses.
